E.Z. Smith founded Smith's Automotive Services and Wrecker service in 1967. After serving his time in the United States Air Force, E.Z. and his wife Nancy settled in the Matthews, NC area. After working for several businesses in the automotive services industry, Mr. Smith's passion for quality and customer service led him into opening his own business. As a result, Smith's has grown into two striving businesses and has been serving and satisfying customers in the Charlotte area for over 40 years.

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is a professional certification group that certifies professionals and shops in the automotive repair and service industry in the United States and parts of Canada. It is an independent, non-profit organization created in 1972. The organization aims to improve the quality of vehicle repair and service through the testing and certification of repair and service professionals.
